Too old for braces?

I'm 32 and need braces. Am I too old? Would it be weird if I got them?

  • "I got mine even later! I have always been self conscious
about my smile, but my folks just didn’t have the money when I was kid to fix
my teeth. So, now that I AM able to do it, I finally decided to just ask about
it. I mean, true, I don’t love walking around looking like a teenager, but my
orthodontist thinks it will only be for about a year, which isn’t that bad. And
today, the braces are way better than like the major “railroad track”
ones. But it’s been three months and so
far so good. Really looking forward to smile with confidence for the first time
    ever. "

  • No - one of my friends got braces at age 30 and another just got lingual braces at 29 to help with her TMJ. It's actually more common than you think!

  • With many different clear aligners (think Invisalign) they are barely noticeable and very common.

  • This may seem funny but the soft smile (showing no teeth) has become very popular and might help with your self esteem if you are getting braces as an adult. Just a thought.

  • One of my friends got his at 40 and he is extremely happy with his decision. Don't let your age be a factor in your decision to get braces. It is never late to look good.

  • It's not weird. Nothing can be weird if it concerns your health

  • Oh, don’t worry about that, a lot of people get their braces even later, it’s the dentist who decides when you have to do it, but of course if you went to the doctor too late he might as well say that it’s not the best option for you or vice versa. If you’re worried about it take a look at dental supplies . A lot of dentists use its equipment, and it’s of high quality, so you have nothing to worry about.

  • The simple answer is, “no.” As a practicing orthodontist, I treated a patient that initiated orthodontics at age 73, and a member of my study club treated a patient at age 85, who upon his initial exam told my colleague & friend, he “did not want to die with crooked teeth!”
However, there are more risks involved which can be minimized by more frequent professional visits, i.e. every 3 months, alternating between your family dentist & a periodontist, meticulous oral hygiene, and daily fluoride mouthwash recommended by the treating orthodontist Leicester.

  • There is no age limit when it comes to dental treatment. We had patients of similar age in our dental clinic for ortho treatments and also for teeth aligners! So you should consult with your dental clinic to know more on how and what they will be going to do. So clear aligners or invisalign are also the best option in this age!

  • Orthodontics Treatment is no longer just for children, and there has been a significant increase in the number of adults undergoing Orthodontic Treatment in Leicester later in life. Ideally, human teeth would line up as neatly as the keys on a piano. Unfortunately, many people must contend with crooked teeth, crowded smiles, or poorly aligned bites.

These problems raise more than cosmetic concerns. Crowded or overlapping teeth can be difficult to clean, making tooth decay and gum disease more likely. Teeth that don't come together properly when you close your jaws—a problem called malocclusion, or "bad bite"—can cause chewing and swallowing problems.

  • It is interesting and what is the maximum age for braces?

  • When it is about your health then you don't need to worry about how you look or what others gonna think. So it is absolutely fine to have braces in your 30s.
