My wife tells me I have sleep apnea (I snore, stop breathing and start breathing again). I don’t want a CPAP machine. Is there something a dentist can make for me to wear in my mouth when I sleep?
Sleep apnea is always first diagnosed by your primary care physician or a sleep medicine physician after a sleep study. Once properly diagnosed, a dentist, such as myself can fabricate an oral appliance, that gently moves the lower jaw forward causing the oropharynx to open and ultimately helps with breathing. It's very important for your dentist to always stay in contact with your medial provider while in treatment.
